The GSRP Lead Teacher creates and sustains a community of preschool learners through the development of a positive classroom and school culture, by holding rigorous and high expectations for students and by utilizing quality instructional practices matched to student learning needs. The GSRP Lead Teacher continuously improves their practice through professional learning and collaboration with peers. The GSRP Lead Teacher supervises students, develops and delivers lessons, utilizes established curriculum and maintains high levels of communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Follows policies of the Board of Education and the terms of the Master Agreement.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by building Administration.
  • Teach district approved creative curriculum.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and expertise working with students. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers and supervisors to provide services to those students.

  • Integrates cultural consciousness in instruction, classroom culture and classroom artifacts.

  • Follow all GSRP and state licensing rules and guidelines including home visits.
  • Prepares for and attends parent/teacher conferences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate must meet all Michigan certification requirements for a School Counselor
  • Successful school counseling experience preferred
  • Experience working with special and underserved student populations with diverse socio-economical background
  • Master’s degree in school counseling or guidance counseling
Skills & Abilities

The primary role of the School Counselor is to work with students, parents, and staff to assist all students in developing academic, social, and emotional success. The counselor will identify and support the social emotional needs of all elementary students. The school counselor must be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with EJ Elementary students, families, general and special education teachers, administration, and other district leaders. This position requires the ability to be organized and multitask.

The greatest responsibilities of the Elementary Counselor will include the following:

  • Help students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment.
  • Work with administrators to create and monitor 504 plans.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  • Work effectively with community organizations.
  • Support the philosophy and vision of East Jordan Elementary
Job Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the administrators and other Elementary Social Workers/Counselors and Behavior Specialists.
  • Provides individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic matters.
  • Participates on a Student Success Team, identifies students who may need targeted or intensive services, and coordinates with behavioral health specialists.
  • Counsel individual students to facilitate transition from home to school, to build positive attitudes, self-understanding, and self-reliance.
  • Provide group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, and family concerns.
  • Serve as member/consultant to the school guidance team; participate in Student Success Team / MTSS, 504, Individual Education Plan meetings, etc.
  • Participate in school staff meetings.
  • Organize and implement teacher training and/or in-service activities as requested by administration.
  • Act as a co-facilitator with teachers for social-emotional skills lessons presented in the classroom.
  • Identify and provide intervention strategies for students and their families, including case management and crisis intervention and collaborate with other community agencies as appropriate.
  • Assist in directing parents to competent resource personnel or community agencies when resources outside the school and home are needed.
  • Assist students to develop strategies for coping with personal crises.
  • Counsel and support students referred for poor attendance.
  • Assess mental health / social emotional needs of students.
  • Participate in the team approach to providing mental health /
  • social-emotional counseling services to qualifying students and ensure that services are available to students in all schools.
  • Maintain confidential ongoing counseling notes; observe and record student behavior to ensure the effectiveness of the plan and provide case management as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and documents to support counseling services for students.
  • Participate in and support activities which are conducive to a positive school climate.
  • Participate in professional growth activities such as classes, workshops, conferences, and school and District committees.
  • Conduct social skills groups in collaboration with the principal, classroom teacher, and/or other support staff.

  • Serve as the school's testing coordinator

Custodian - Full year position

Typical Schedule:

Monday – Friday 2:00 pm to 10:30pm – school year hours

Monday – Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm – summer and school breaks

*Schedule flexible to cover weekends when needed*

$15.50/hour

Preferred Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  2. Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred but not required
  3. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  4. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  5. Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
  6. Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
  7. Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
  8. Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
Skills and Abilities:
  1. Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and waxing them
  2. Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
  3. Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms
  4. Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
  5. Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
  6. Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
  7. Lock and unlock windows, doors, and gates
  8. Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
  9. Perform all related duties as assigned
