HIGH SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
East Jordan High School students
are given multiple opportunities to take advanced courses. These
courses are offered to any student willing to take the challenge,
regardless of academic standing. These courses are classified
as Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment or Honors courses.
HONORS COURSES:
- Communication Arts II, III,
and IV
- Calculus
- Physics
- Genetics
- Physiology
- Chemistry
DUAL ENROLLMENT: East Jordan
High School are able to dual-enroll in college courses at Michigan
post-secondary institutions at no cost. To qualify for dual enrollment,
a student must be in the 11th or 12th grade and must have taken
the High School Proficiency Test and earned endorsement in the subject
area in which they wish to dual enroll. Any college courses not
offered by the high school that are academic in nature (not a
hobby) would qualify for dual enrollment.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT: Advanced placement courses are offered
to East Jordan High School students through several Internet
sources. Many of the offerings are free of charge to students.
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES: Courses not offered at East Jordan
High School may be taken through one of many correspondence programs.
The type of courses available range from core academic subjects
to "specialty" courses.
MATH, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
CENTER (MST): East Jordan
High School students have an opportunity to take advanced math,
science and communication arts courses in the Math, Science &
Technology Center (MST). The center is located "on campus"
and available to any student who has taken the prerequisite courses.
Students who enroll in the "center" are exposed to
advanced subject matter taught in a project-based environment.
Courses taken within the center are given honors status.
