East Jordan
Middle School earned an "A" on the Michigan Department of
Education 2008-2009 school report card. (Click on the link

Parents are a
big part of East Jordan Middle School’s success, as measured by
Parent-Teacher Conference attendance, as well as attendance at
open houses and other school activities.
East Jordan
Middle School offers a variety of programs designed to challenge
the school's most able learners, which includes placement in
academic classes at their level (such as math) verses at their
grade level.
EJMS is among
an elite group being one of the only middle schools in the state
with an established “Child Study” process, which uses a
“Response to Intervention” approach to specifically respond to
the needs of individual students.
The Middle
School newsletter, “In the Middle,” keeps parents
informed about Middle School activities and initiatives. A
“Counselor’s Corner” is included too, offering advice to the
parents of our early adolescents.
The Middle
School newspaper, “The Crimson Wave,” is published
monthly by the school Journalism class.
East Jordan Middle School
continues to distinguish itself by hosting experts in the area
of reading. In 2008-2009, the building received several grants
in support of our reading initiatives.
Regular
intramural activities bring students together in events that
promote teamwork and cooperation.
EJMS boasts an
active “Student Leadership” class that develops and leads
school-wide student activities and service projects.
EJMS’ 5th
class of National Junior Honor Society students was inducted in
2008-2009. The Society, which promotes leadership and service
among students, keeps students active in community service
projects throughout the year.
The school
boasts a rich elective program that enables students to
participate in several levels of band, art, physical
education and technology.
The curriculum
at EJMS is aligned with the state benchmarks, and
locally-developed major assessments measure student proficiency
in each of the core areas.
Students,
according to their academic performance, participate in Midwest
Talent Search, which enables them to take the ACT/SAT tests
during their middle school years, while helping them to prepare
for the rigor of high school.
