Where Exploration and Cooperation Meet

Our friendly, professional staff is dedicated to promoting the positive intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. Our philosophy of student exploration, discovery, and cooperation are visible in every direction at East Jordan Middle School!

  • As are all of our schools, East Jordan Middle School is recognized for having reached the standards at the highest level as determined by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation. 
  • Parent involvement continues to be a strength at EJMS as measured by parent-teacher conference participation, attendance at open houses, and participation in a variety of school activities.
  • East Jordan Middle School offers a variety of programs designed to challenge the school's most able learners, which includes placement in academic classes at their level (such as math) verses at their grade level.
  • EJMS is among an elite group being one of the only middle schools in the state with an established “Child Study” process, which uses a “Response to Intervention” approach to specifically respond to individual student needs.
  • The Middle School newsletter, In the Middle, keeps parents informed about Middle School activities and initiatives.  A  “Counselor’s Corner” is designed to offer advice to parents.
  • The Middle School newspaper, arguably on-par with all or most high school newspapers, The Crimson Wave, is published monthly by the Journalism Class.
  • East Jordan Middle School continues to distinguish itself by hosting experts in the area of reading. In 2006-07, the entire staff at the Middle School worked with experts in the field to develop strategies for teaching reading.
  • Regular intramural activities bring students together in events that promote teamwork and cooperation. 
  • An active “Student Leadership” class which develops and leads school-wide initiatives such as student activities and service projects.
  • The National Junior Honor Society promotes leadership and service among students and keeps students active in community service projects throughout the year.
  • The middle school continued to earn grants to fund innovative learning opportunities in the area of reading, arts and mathematics.
  • The school boasts a rich elective program that enables students to participate in several levels of band, choir, art, physical education and technology.
