East Jordan Elementary School offers a wide range of programs and opportunities that make the school a great place to learn, and a center of activity for young families.
   
  • EJES earned an “B” grade in Michigan’s Education YES! accreditation process!
 
  • East Jordan Elementary School offers the area’s ONLY gifted-talented program.  The EXSL Program provides challenging options for high achieving students in math, reading and problem solving!
 
  • East Jordan Elementary students benefit from a host of after-school enrichment activities in the sciences, arts, health, math, literacy, and tutoring/homework; compliments of a $100,000 21st Century Grant.
 
  • Reading matters at East Jordan Elementary, every student has a 90 minute block of reading each day.  Students who need more help receive targeted support.
 
  • Elementary School students are enriched by programs funded by grants from the East Jordan Learning Alliance, The Malpass Foundation and the Charlevoix Community Foundation.
 
  • Third and fourth grade students, with the help of the “Acting Up Theater Company,” wrote and produced their own plays during our Reading Month celebration.  Our students read more than 25,000 books in March alone!
 
  • EJ Elementary School houses three separate pre-school programs, including the “BeFour” Program, the Kids’ Club Pre-School Program and the East Jordan Co-Op Nursery School.  These programs are offered to 3 and 4 year old students.
 
  • East Jordan Elementary students benefit from a free “Strings Program,” offered through The Crooked Tree Arts Council.
 
  • Every elementary school student receives instruction in Art, Music and Physical Education.
 
  • The Jordan River Arts Council (JRAC) offers unique educational programs for our students on an annual basis.
 
  • More than 95% of our parents attend Parent-Teacher Conferences!
 
  • Our faculty members have developed assessments at each grade level in math, reading and writing that test the State of Michigan’s benchmarks and content standards.
 
  • Our students benefit from 2, state-of-the-art, computer labs, and also enjoy access to computers in every classroom.
 
  • Kids’ Club provides before, during and after-school daycare for families that need extra support each day.
 
  • East Jordan Elementary School teaches positive student behavior expectations building wide, and recognizes students who meet those expectations.
 
  • East Jordan Elementary School offers an all-day, everyday kindergarten program as well as a 2 ½ day Young 5’s program.
