Message to the Community School Administration Alternative & Innovative Programs Social Skills & Civic Responsibility Community Relations Finance Curriculum & Assessment Technology Your Award Winning Schools Your School Board Community Auditorium 2008-2009 General Fund Budget Finance foresight and stewardship Members of the “Finance Action Team” worked throughout 2005-2006 to establish the framework of the district’s “Finance Action Plan.”  The school district established the “East Jordan Public Schools Endowment Fund” in 2006.  The Fund, which is held in permanent endowment at the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, is intended to provide a permanent source of supplemental funding to enhance the overall learning environment for children in East Jordan.  Also in 2006, an anonymous donor issued a $75,000 dollar-for-dollar “challenge grant,” for purposes of building the afore-mentioned Endowment Fund.  School organizers hope to meet the challenge by raising $75,000 in the next year!  The Board of Education is in the process of evaluating surplus school properties for sale and potential residential development . . . making a key investment in the long-term financial health of the school district.  East Jordan voters overwhelmingly approved a Headlee Restoration millage proposition in 2006, allowing the school district to access the full student foundation grant from the State of Michigan. .
