Community Relations

the center of our community

Students, parents, educators, and community leaders work together to achieve excellence in our schools and to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Parents and other community members are welcome partners in all our school activities!

  • All East Jordan Elementary School students participate in a community service project each year.

  • National Honor Society students at East Jordan High School spent more than 1,500 hours in support of a wide range of community service projects last year, including the Care & Share Food Pantry, collecting presents for needy families during the holidays, participating in Michigan’s “Adopt-a-Highway” program, and working with the Friends of the Jordan on a Jordan River clean-up day.

  • 2006-2007 saw continued upgrades to  www.ejps.org, making the website even more informative and attractive for our web visitors, and also saw the addition of CenterPoint, a web-based communication tool that connects parents with teachers.

  • Thanks to the generosity of the East Jordan community, members of the Class of 2007 enjoyed more than $92,000 in local scholarship support.

  • Each school building publishes a regular newsletter for parents. The newsletters keep parents informed about significant events, changes in the school schedule, important deadlines, co-curricular schedules, and other opportunities for students.

  • East Jordan Public Schools offer a full range of evening enrichment courses for community members. The courses are offered in fall, winter, and spring segments, and there’s something for everyone!

  • The East Jordan Rotary Club’s STRIVE program provided mentors for high school students who had been identified as at-risk of dropping out of school.

  • The East Jordan High School Counseling Department exhibits a strong commitment to keeping seniors and their parents up to speed on important dates, deadlines, college visitations, work/internship and scholarship opportunities.

  • The volunteer East Jordan Sports Booster and the East Jordan Learning Alliance organizations provided more then $35,000 in enhancements for the school athletic and academic programs in 2006-2007.

  • The Charlevoix County Community Foundation and the Malpass Foundation provided more the $30,000 in grant support for innovative and necessary school programs in 2006-2007.
  • The Community Auditorium at East Jordan High School offers regular concerts and other cultural events for the enjoyment of the entire community.
